Remote and Distributed Data Acquisition

Nowadays the main trend in automation industry is using distributed data acquisition and control systems. It is well known that manufacturing process is getting more complex, the equipment is occupying more area, a lot of auxiliary tools are required. The usage of distributed data acquisition and control systems allows to:

  • significantly reduce cabling cost
  • approach high computing power to control object
  • increase system survivability, easily replace failed elements, protect extra important parts of the system
  • use modular architecture thus making some elements relatively independent and self containing
  • gradually bring the whole system into work
  • reduce upgrading costs, expand capabilities
  • quickly integrate new systems into a single information network of the enterprise.

The catalogue describes universal tools for creating distributed data acquisition and control systems. They are modules of I-7000, I-8000 and NuDAM-6000 series.

This line of products includes analog input/output modules, discrete input/output modules, timers/counters and motion control modules.

A line of I-7000 products includes CPU modules (controllers), communication modules, analog input/output modules, discrete input/output modules, timers/counters.

Every module of I-7000 and NuDAM-6000 family is a complete device in a frame made of nonflammable plastic. A connector and a screw terminal are also on the frame. The modules can be mounted on a standard 35-mm DIN-rail, a panel or a wall.

The modules of both series can be connected to each other via RS-485 interface. One serial port of a computer/controller can adopt up to 256 distributed modules.

The I-8000 series modules divide into two types: parallel and serial modules. The parallel modules are high speed input/output devices that can only be mounted into the controllers of I-8000 series. The serial modules have lower data speed but can be installed both into controller expansion slots and expansion baskets like 87k4, 87k5, 87k8, 87k9.
